The audio restoration of Raspberry Parade tracks is still not completed, but here are some snippets for free download.

OVER THE SKY 1965
Recorded in a studio in Hull, on home-made equipment. The variable-speed tape recorder was controlled by a valve oscillator the size of a fridge! Using this, Brian Heddon discovered a new special effect that he called ‘skying’. It later became known as ‘flanging’.

BUBBLES FOR THE SNOW QUEEN 1966
The title came from a girl in Liverpool. When her grandmother bathed her as a child, she used to say ‘Let’s make bubbles for the Snow Queen’. Brian also had a habit of lying in the bath for hours, in the dark – sometimes all day…

NORBLDORBL 1966
A rich and evil man, who hates music, buys all the music in the world and locks it away in a box. He can’t resist having a last peek though, and the track ends with a bizarre montage of sound, as the music rushes out and escapes.

AS PLATO SAID 1966
Brian Heddon idolised Plato, and had been offered a place at Cambridge to read Classics before forming The Hedonists. This song dates from 1965, but Brian was never happy with any of the recordings he made - this is his last attempt, from July ’66.
